Armadillo damage across Orange County
The ground changes from one side of Orange County to the other, and armadillo work follows the sand. The west side, from the Butler Chain of Lakes up toward Lake Apopka, mixes deep sand with the black muck of the old north shore farms. Armadillos dig the sand and leave the wet muck alone. The east side is flatwoods and scrub along the Econlockhatchee out toward Hal Scott Preserve and Moss Park, and the subdivisions built there since the 1980s sit on sandy fill with irrigated sod on top. Loose ground with grubs in watered turf is what draws an armadillo into a yard.
What the damage looks like
Hardly anyone sees the animal. What owners find are shallow cone-shaped pits across the lawn, a burrow seven or eight inches across against a slab edge, driveway or air-conditioning pad, or a walkway that has started to sink. Most houses built here in the last forty years are slab on grade with no crawl space, so the digging stays at the perimeter. Before anyone collapses a burrow it has to be identified, because a gopher tortoise burrow is protected in Florida and cannot be disturbed without an FWC permit.
Trapping, and what holds
Orange County Animal Services says plainly that it does not trap nuisance wildlife. FWC rule 68A-9.010, not the county, decides what may happen to a trapped animal: release on the property where it was caught, release elsewhere in the same county only on at least 40 contiguous acres with the landowner's written permission, or humane euthanasia, within 24 hours. Trapping one armadillo does not stop the next, so the lasting fix is exclusion: hardware cloth buried in an L along the slab, deck or shed edge. Our armadillo guide covers the biology, and animal control in Orange County covers the attic species.

How does armadillo control work in Orange County?
Every job follows the same four steps. It starts with a free inspection to find the entry points, the signs of activity and the species, with no charge and no obligation. Removal comes next, by live trapping or one-way exclusion, and exclusion is the only method used for bats. Then every entry point is sealed with materials matched to the roofline, which is the step that prevents a return visit. Last comes cleanup where it is needed, with damaged insulation replaced and the lifetime warranty registered against every sealed entry.
Free Inspection
We walk the property, identify entry points, signs of activity, and the species we're dealing with. No charge, no obligation.
Humane Removal
Live trapping or one-way exclusion (mandatory for bats). Animals are relocated or excluded without harm, in compliance with Florida law.
Seal Entry Points
Every chew point, roof gap, and exclusion seam gets repaired with materials matched to your roofline. This is the step that prevents return visits.
Cleanup & Warranty
Attic decontamination if needed, damaged insulation replaced, and your lifetime warranty registered against every sealed entry point.
